The monk’s food, dress, dharma texts and all other sundry requirements have to be brought from Purang, Tibet and Simikot by mules and porters. As mentioned above, in Humla, transportation expenses are very high and thus the cost of living is more expensive as compared to living in a city. Over the years, H.E. Pema Rigsal Rinpoche has managed all of the expenses of the Namkha Khyung Dzong monastery on his own.
