According to Chinese believe August or 8th month is considered the Month of Ghost and there is a festival called Hungry Ghost Festival.
This Chinese festivity is based on the belief of the Ghost Month, which takes place on the seventh lunar month of the time-honored Chinese calendar. During the first day of the Ghost month, the gates of hell are opened to allow the spirits and ghosts to roam the world. For a month, these spirits are believed to come back to their families, while some are on the hunt for unlucky victims.
Therefore, Namkha Khyung Dzong Monastery is conducting a special prayer & puja on August 16 th 2013, for all the deceased people.
Prayer & Puja are to guide the departed soul to Pure Land of Buddha and to protect living family members from being harmed by the Ghost Spirit.
